The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives, is a grave violation of human rights. The following human rights were violated in this incident:

• Right to Freedom from Discrimination: Discrimination based on religion or any other grounds is a violation of human rights. According to reports, the terrorists targeted victims after knowing their religious identity, which is a clear case of discrimination.

Both the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) have strongly condemned this attack, calling it a serious violation of human rights. The NHRC has stated that terrorism is the biggest threat to human rights globally and emphasized the need to bring the perpetrators of this act to justice and provide assistance to the families of the victims. The UNSC has also stressed the need to hold the organizers and sponsors of terrorism accountable.
